| Notes for Thomas Lewis NOLES |
A thrifty Baptist peanut farmer and woodsman who ran a tight ship. He had lived with the Oklahoma indians for a year in his youth. After the death of his second wife he had a portrait made with him between both wives. He was cared for is his last years by his daughter-in-law, Ruby. He was a small, swarthy, silent man. He was a mix of English and Irish.
Served as constable for many years.
He was a pillar of the Mt. Ida area. He helped many familes when times were hard. He had a quiet home and no one was unhappy. Drove a Model T truck, a mark of prestige in the area. He seemed to live on oatmeal and little else. He would line out the daily duties for everyone and seemed to have eyes all around his head. He could often be seen sitting on his front porch surveying everyone at their assigned task. |
